M 2 M or machine to machine communication is one of the fastest evolving areas of information technology. A diverse range of programs are beginning to make it possible to take complex procedures, automate them, and relay the pertinent information to a nominated monitoring station.  Thanks to the advent of GPRS, (General Packet Radio System), operated by the mobile telephone networks, the cost is often minimal as well.

For example: One of our Telemetry Monitoring Units, installed into a vehicle can provide the monitoring software with a constantly updated location, plotted onto a map, and allow the monitor to activate or de-activate various switches.  These switches may vary in effect from turning off the ignition, to isolating the engine or flashing the headlights.  Sensors detect the condition of the vehicle, perhaps the battery voltage or fuel level and this information can be reported as well. Or: A telemetry control unit with a number of custom designed sensors may be placed in a remote and inhospitable location, simply to monitor environmental conditions.  Outside temperature and visibility can then be mapped to an analogue scale and relayed back to the monitoring station live.

How Much Can It Do? The Telemetry unit comprises a super accurate GPS location device, along with 4 Digital Switches and as many sensors as necessary.  Internal temperature monitoring is standard, as is the vibration sensor and the internal battery pack. Given that we also design the monitoring program for your application… the possibilities are endless and usually economical. Please give us a call and have an informal chat to find out whether we can help with your project.
